Persuasive Essay Due Dates

October 13, 2011
[Update: Please note that the Geats' due date was pushed back until Tuesday the 25th!]

Please note that due dates for these papers are scattered over the course of the next two weeks!  Be sure you get these papers to me on time -- major assignments carry a penalty of one letter grade taken off per day late!

Danes: Tuesday, October 18th
Volsungs: Wednesday, October 19th
Ylfings: Thursday, October 20th
Waegmundings, Scyldings, & Geats: Tuesday, October 25th

Please feel free to see me at any time with questions.  Additionally, please note that I've included links to the MLA formatting guide (under "General Class Resources") and the persuasive essay rubric (under "Current Assignments") on the "Resources" page of this website.

Drum roll, please!

Introducing, the winners of our “A Lie a Day” contest…

The 2A Geats!

It was a thrilling, come-from-behind victory, with nearly 60 points submitted within the final 24 hours of the competition.  In the end, the other sections couldn’t beat the Geats’ sheer dedication and willingness to sacrifice their individual triumph for the good of the whole.  Congratulations, Geats!  You are all total ballers, and I mean that sincerely.  Way to make Beowulf proud!

Congratulations as well to...

Speech: What is your favorite quote (or one you really like)?

Thoughts: What do you believe strongly in...

Updated "A Lie a Day" Standings!

September 21, 2011

Holy Yak!  Suddenly it looks like there's some actual competition... the Geats are still in the lead, but the margin is closing rapidly.  The Waegmundings did a lot of work over the last week, but I'm most impressed at the comeback being staged by the YLFINGS!  And remember... you can submit lies from any day this unit, so it is still ANYONE'S race.  Epic rally time, Volsungs?

** I remembered to weight the data this time, which means that I took the total "points awarded" and divided it by the...
