1. Write a short essay (three paragraphs) on your chosen persuasive essay topic... arguing from the opposite perspective.  (I.e., if your position is "Homework should be abolished," you would write a short essay about the importance of daily homework.)  Make sure you include at least three (3) well-reasoned arguments and include examples of logos, pathos, and ethos.

Please note that this is the first assignment you are submitting as a part of your sophomore writing portfolio, which is 40% of your total grade for the semester!

2. Scyldings Only: Write a paragraph about a topic you might be interested in exploring for your persuasive essay.  Include the following elements:

1. The Topic
2. Why it's controversial -- what are some of the various points-of-view regarding this issue?
3. An explanation of why you believe it is important enough to write an essay about / argue about
