Please write a rough draft of the introductory paragraph of your persuasive essay for next class.  Make sure you format your paragraph according to the guidelines we went over in class.  Your paragraph must include:

#1. An attention-grabbing opener... PLEASE don't send me to sleep with your essays!
#2. Elaboration on your topic, background on the issue, a discussion about why this issue is significant, etc.
#3. A strong thesis statement summarizing your opinion AND the three major points you will use to argue for it [consult your "Writing" notes for guidelines on the formatting of a thesis statement]

Your introduction should be approximately 4-6 sentences.

Please remember... this is a portfolio assignment, weighted 40% of your grade, so take your time and do your best work!
